Engaging a firm matter by matter works for a one-off dispute. It works badly for an operating company, where the expensive problems are the ones nobody thought to ask about before signing. A retainer puts the question earlier.
What it covers
Routine contract review and drafting, periodic compliance checks across licences and employment, and on-call advice when a question comes up mid-negotiation rather than after signature.
Why it is cheaper
